Classes started on August 21, 2017 at Stone Ridge, marking its 114th year of operation. The first week included student photos, a field trip to the library, and a stop by the local ice cream establishment. The Stone Ridge cinematography class, for grades 1-8, was visited by Deven Bromme, a working actor and director.
He spent time telling students about his experiences in acting and God’s leading in his life. He also gave the kids pointers on how to be good directors and dedicated actors.
While the elementary students were listening to this advice, the kindergarten students were being filmed as participants in Colin’s Classroom on CBS Channel 3 in Duluth, MN. They helped Colin, a local weatherman, as he explained air pressure.
This year, Stone Ridge has also implemented a distance learning program in conjunction with Maplewood Academy. “We’re excited about the prospect of having the Maplewood Distance Learning Program component added to our facility and offering world class IT classroom enhancements,” said Rudy Carlson, principal and head teacher for Stone Ridge Christian School.
