New Pastor Installed at The Edge Christian Worship Center and Cambridge SDA Church

abner-photoPastor Abner Aguilar was installed as the pastor of The Edge Christian Worship Center and Cambridge SDA Church in November, 2016. Pastor Abner began his ministry in the Minnesota Conference in 2012, working as a church planter. Eventually, he left to attend the Seminary at Andrews University, and upon returning to Minnesota, was called to The Edge district. He is joined by his wife, Kara, who is a licensed mental health counselor. They were married in early November, 2016, and started their tenure in the Metro area just a week and a half after the wedding. Both felt God’s calling to minister in The Edge district and continue to praise the Lord for the opportunity to serve Him there.

Pastor Abner enjoys preaching and working one-on-one with the members from both of his churches, and his wife Kara often accompanies him on home visitations. Although they are new in their district, they have already made many friends within their congregations. The new year has brought new opportunities, as they have begun work with young adults at The Edge, trying to encourage their participation and ultimately mentor new leaders.

Pastor Abner and Kara enjoy the outdoors, jogging, and collecting and putting together vintage Wysocki jigsaw puzzles. They desire to see their churches thrive and grow spiritually and numerically in this new year, and to remain open to God’s unexpected blessings.

You’re Invited to Visit Cross Bridge Fellowship

cross-bridge-article-5The vision to create an alternative Adventist worship group, based in Rochester, that would offer a more contemporary, interactive worship style began to take shape in September, 2014, when Cross Bridge Fellowship’s initial service met in a member’s home.  From the beginning, the small group felt a kinship of mission and the warmth of fellowship.

As the group began to grow, a new meeting venue was sought and a small chapel at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Rochester was procured.  cross-bridge-article-6The chapel provided space for a mix of talented musicians, using their chosen instruments, to lead attendees in songs of praise and worship. Pastor Bradley Booth, pastor of the Rochester SDA Church, shares sermonette duties along with a variety of members and guest speakers.

In the spring of 2016, Cross Bridge Fellowship officially became a company sponsored by the Rochester SDA Church.

cross-bridge-article-1Desiring a more spacious, technology-equipped meeting space, the planning committee voted to move again in June, 2016, this time to the Autumn Ridge Church in southwest Rochester.

While Cross Bridge does not have an official board of administration, a planning committee meets monthly.  Each monthly agenda begins by emphasizing the mission of outreach to individuals as well as the Rochester community.  Cross Bridge continues to discuss and implement a variety of outreach activities, some of which include serving meals for the Salvation Army, packing and distributing bags of personal needs items for the homeless, singing at a local care center, visiting elderly members, and packing breakfast bags for the Ronald MacDonald House.

Please, join us if you are in Rochester over Sabbath.  We would love to have you attend.  A meet and greet with refreshments begins at 10:30 a.m., music praise time follows at 11:00, after which an interactive sermonette/Bible study is presented, concluding with intercessory prayer.  Cross Bridge Fellowship is located at 3611 Salem Road SW.

Hair is Love

“Love never gives up. Love cares more for others than for self.” 1 Cor. 13:4 MSG

At Stone Ridge Christian School, this is a principle we try to instill in our students every day. We strive to reinforce the idea of caring for others. Because of this, we are encouraged when we see our students demonstrate this trait on their own in a broader sphere than the school setting. Recently, we had the privilege of watching one of our students model this love that cares for others.

teigan-grammy-bDianna Bauer (Grammy B) had been diagnosed with a particularly aggressive cancer in 2001. She elected to have surgery, but no chemotherapy or radiation treatments. A very short time later she had to undergo surgery again, when the cancer came back. After the second surgery, she underwent chemotherapy and radiation treatments. While praising God for the new lease on life the treatments provided, she now had the side effect of less than satisfactory hair to deal with. She decided to wear a wig. By 2012, she had been cancer free for 10 years.

before-the-hair-cutWhen granddaughter Teigan was 10 years old, she decided to grow her hair long so she could “share it” with Grammy B. For the next several years, she would work on growing long hair.

Teigan learned she couldn’t share her hair with her Grammy just before she had it cut, but decided that since Grammy B was “okay with the wigs she had”, it would be good to share her hair with other kids that would need it. Her hair cut yielded 30” of usable hair for other cancer survivors, and was donated to Locks of Love.

“Love is kind and thoughtful…” 1 Cor. 13:4 Amp. We are so blessed to see Christ’s love through our students on a daily basis. Praise God for His children.
