Greetings from the campus of Adventist University of Lukanga in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
In February 16, 2014 we arrived on the Lukanga Campus after accepting the mission call to DRC to be the president of the campus. Our concerns for this mission field were soon realized. We encountered many discouragements, but we can say we are being sustained by the many prayers offered on our behalf, and that the Lord is giving us the strength to fight the battles physically, emotionally, psychologically, spiritually, financially, etc.
The good news is we are seeing the hand of the Lord at work. Last month, the university’s faculty of Theology held a 3-week evangelistic series in Musienene, a town about 3 – 5 miles from Lukanga. The meetings ended with a total baptism of 78 precious souls. I presented Bibles either in French and Swahili according to the candidate’s preference and gave Bible books to 7 government officials who were invited. The challenges have involved needing to halt construction projects on the women’s and men’s dormitories, partially completed polyclinic wards of emergency, surgery, pediatrics, radiology, dental, out-patients, morgue, etc. Lack of classrooms for nursing and agricultural science departments, auditorium, administration building and offices, unpaved streets, poor electricity, people suffering from typhoid, and there is no fence around the campus thus posing a security danger.
The university administration is appealing to people with a missionary minded viewpoint and a giving spirit to help us. Email us at rectorat.uniluk@, or akyianotablet1@ for more information and pictures. Keep us in your daily prayers.
Benjamin Akyiano, University President
