Simple Church Planters Encouraged in Minnesota

Simple Church At HomeThe Minnesota Conference voted Simple Church plants as part of their sisterhood of churches.  A training workshop is scheduled for September 23-25 at North Star Camp.

What is Simple Church?

It is a network of house churches that meet in homes.  These lay-led church plants focus on reaching secular and/or unchurched people who will most likely never walk into a conventional church building.

Why start house churches when there is still room in our conventional churches?

  • Fact #1:  As of last year, 104 million Americans walked away from their local churches.  Their reason?  To go find God. This may come as a surprise, but a massive cultural shift is taking place in North America.  How will we reach these people with Bible truth about the God they seek?  Are we willing to become modern-day missionaries?
  • Fact #2:  In today’s changing culture, many people are more comfortable meeting for Bible study in home settings where they can develop strong, trusting relationships. Currently 54% of the attendance in the average Simple Church is secular and/or unchurched people.

How can I learn more about Simple Church?

How do I get started?

  • Minnesota Conference has scheduled a Simple Church Training Workshop for September 23-25, 2016, at North Star Camp.  Registration information is listed below.  Minnesota members will be given first priority in registering until July 1, 2016.

Can my family come?

  • Yes.  Simple Church is about reaching “the mission field that lives where you live”—beginning at home. One of the best ways to reach this first mission field is to bring them alongside you as part of the mission team.
  • In keeping with this family-styled missionary work, children are welcome to come and participate.
  • There will be no child care provided, so please plan to bring quiet activities for young children. Parents are responsible for supervision.

How much does it cost?

  • Lodging is $80 a cabin
  • Meals are $10 per person, $5 for children ages 3 – 12 and free for children under 3 years old
