Why I am Thankful

Dwayne Mauk (MN Conference)Today I was asked what I’m specifically thankful for.  I’m finding it hard to put into words.  I suppose one could say they are thankful for everything, or many things, or one specific thing.  The things that I am thankful for are not limited to this list, but here are a few; a wife, who shares the same beliefs and values that I do, for parents who not only instilled beliefs and values in me as I grew up, but continue to live those beliefs in spite of enduring health issues, for health, for coworkers and a job, for living a life that many would wish for, for the knowledge that this world is not the end, and most importantly in this time of the year, I’m thankful for a God who while controlling the universe, gave Himself for me, and has promised to come back and take all of His children home for ever.

15 McCormick, ConnieToday I heard the testimony of one of our teachers who recently responded with sensitivity to the needs of a homeless lady.  This Thanksgiving I am extremely thankful for the sincerity of faith and commitment that I see in the faces, words and actions of our teachers.  We are so blessed by the ministry of these wonderful human beings!

Connie McCormick, Superintendent of Schools

Susan Inglish head shotI have so much to be thankful for.  I am thankful that my mother took me to Sabbath School when I was a child and taught me about Jesus.  I am thankful for my siblings who make me laugh until I cry.  I am thankful for my husband who is my best friend.  I am thankful for the joy that my children bring.  Praise the Lord.

15Lechner, Dee AnnI am thankful for God’s grace and mercy he has shown my family this past year.  I am thankful for the blessings He has poured out on our church family in the Minnesota Conference.   And, with a grateful heart, I look forward to what the Lord has for us in the future!   “Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.” 1 Chronicles 16:34

15 Lyons, CarolTo be thankful is to live a life of gratitude and praise to the Giver of all good things. As “I lift my eyes to the hills and their Creator who made all heaven and earth,” I know “He watches me; never sleeps, no never slumbers. He’s ever over me.” As I come and I go, I am safe for I know that His care is sufficient for me. Winter warmth and light, and a shady place in summer, He’s ever over me.” I am thankful that His grace and His care is sufficient for me!
