New Staff Members for Maplewood Academy

I am so excited about our new staff members. They are not only quality candidates in their various fields, but they are on fire for Jesus! We are so blessed! They are excited to be a part of Maplewood Academy and are anxious to interact with you and your students!

David BallesterosDavid Ballesteros will be joining Maplewood’s team as our new music teacher. David is coming to us from Holly, Michigan where he was most recently serving as the Minister of Music for the Michigan Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. He graduated from Andrews University with a Master of Music (M.Mus) degree, with an emphasis in music performance. David is very involved in music, playing flute for the Andrews University Symphony Orchestra, Sinfonietta, and Wind Symphony, as well as for the St. Joseph Municipal Band in Michigan. David is originally from Columbia. There he taught flute at Amadeus Real Music Academy and taught music at Icolven Elementary, Middle and High School.

Anna Lee BeagleAnna Lee Beagle is our new English teacher. Anna Lee is joining us from Wellington, Nevada. She has a Bachelor’s degrees in History and Archaeology, as well as a Masters in Global Community Development. Anna Lee is a world traveler – working as a supervisor for the Khirbet Qeiyafa archeology site in Israel, teaching English in Laos, and learning German in Austria. She has also been very involved in mission trips, preaching for the ShareHim Evangelism Campaign in the Philippines, building classrooms with Maranatha in India, chaperoned youth evangelism groups in Costa Rica and planned music for another ShareHim Evangelism Campaign in Tanzania. Most recently, Anna Lee has been student teaching at Collegedale Academy and Ooltewah High School. She also taught and served as Task Force Dean at Rio Lindo Academy.

Richard YoungRichard Young is our new Boys Dean. He and his wife Natalie and daughter will be moving to Hutchinson from Lincoln, Nebraska where Richard served as Union College’s Assistant Director of Enrollment. Richard is energetic and enthusiastic and deeply cares about our young people and their salvation, academic success and social lives. Because Richard was Union’s representative for Maplewood Academy, he has met most of our students and already has built relationships with many of them, giving him a smoother transition to his new role as boys’ dean. Richard has also worked at Union College as their Director of Recruiting. He has also served as Enrollment Advisor, Associated Student Body Sponsor, Multicultural Committee Chairman, and Assistant Basketball Coach for girls and guys. Richard also conducted summer basketball camps and directed Preview Days events that hosted over 200 high school students. Rich’s degree is in secondary education and he has a strong heart for bringing our young people closer to Christ.

Short Term Mission Trip to Plant a Church in India

India Ladies with biblesHave you been waiting and praying to go on a short-term church planting mission trip? How about India, a land of color, spice and many gods?  It’s a country of 1.252 billion people, most of whom need to hear the love of God.  The Holy Spirit appears to be working on the hearts of men and women in that vast country and many are searching for God. Each night a team of three, will present the gospel, health message and children’s story to the villagers.

The MN Conference is in part sponsoring a church plant mission trip to India, February 2-22, 2016.  Each participant is responsible for their own travel costs, hotel and food, passport and visa, and travel costs to and from the village. Pray for the souls to be won to Jesus, and whether or not you are that someone whom God is impressing to go on this trip.

Minnesota Church Basketball League

MCBL
(Minnesota Church Basketball League)

Basketball

Objectives/Philosophy

Create a basketball league that allows Christian players to compete at the highest level and:

  • Be role models to other ambitious basketball players.
  • Be leaders in their communities and their world.
  • Most importantly we want players actively pursuing a relationship with the man Jesus Christ.

We strongly believe that we are not just providing a way for Christians to play basketball, but we are creating strong God-like leaders for our world.

Current Situation

The young adults in Minnesota are looking for a basketball league that is competitive, fun and professional that they can enjoy. Our purpose in pursuing this, is to combine both their desires for a basketball league, with their everyday purpose as ambassadors for Christ. We will create a league that fully satisfies all players. The players will know what they are doing is more than just a game but they will be Christian basketball players on and off the court.

Team Registration Duties

  • In order to register, each church team needs to have names of 10 or more players written up in an email that are committed to playing the full length of the league.
  • It is mandatory for each team to have a coach that is not playing in any of the team games.
  • Team fees are $500 per team.

Deadlines for Registration

By September 12th , 2015, the names of 10 or more players needs to be emailed to frankhypolite@gmail.com. The coach on each team needs to also email his contact info to frankhypolite@gmail.com by September 12th, 2015.

By September 27th , 2015, the team fee of $500 needs to be paid in full.
